in 1928, Amelia Earhart craved the Atlantic,
Even though, the danger, for a woman, was feared
in 1968, Katherine Johnson put a couple numbers together, flew man to moon
Even though there was no protocol for women in boardrooms
in 2009, Michelle Obama became the First African American Lady
Even though Jim Geraghty said she was "strikingly ungracious"
Amelia was fragile, Katherine was lacking a gene, and Michelle was bad at thank-you cards
Amelia didn't look the part, Katherine and Michelle didn't look the color
Are we still playing this goddamn game?
Remember when women were celebrated for what they were celebrated for, like men?
Remember when women were defended like men?
Remember when we consoled instead of accused?
Remember when she was raped and you said by who?
Remember when you asked why now?
Remember when you just got sick of so many allegations?
Remember when you didn't care you'd lose your favorite actor?
Remember when you said people would soon forget?
I like to write; point blank. This is a little piece of me that I get to share with the rest of the world, and hey, you know, maybe you'll appreciate it, maybe it'll do nothing for you. But my writing exists, and that's enough for me.
