Feminism, You Cannot Run Now

Let's talk about Feminism. You know why, because we have to talk about Feminism. We have to talk about what Feminism is, and then we have to talk about why it's important. We can leave my views out of it, but I'm sure I'll sneak them in somewhere.

If you do a quick google search of the world "Feminism," google does its cool little thing and gives you that box with the definition. There, the definition is as follows: the advocacy of women's rights on grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.

Let's tear that definition apart, piece by piece, like the analytical people we are.

Advocacy - According to Google
public support for or recommendation of a particular cause or policy.

Women - According to Google
plural form of 'woman,' female human

Rights - According to Google
that which is morally correct, just, or honorable. & a moral or legal entitlement to have or obtain something or to act in a certain way.

Grounds -
an area of knowledge or subject of discussion or thought.

 Political, Social, and Economic Equality
Do we need to define these?

Do we need to define every little word in our society that we can feel more comfortable about discussing them? Yes, yes indeed we do. There are far too many concepts up for debate today that require such research, such basic research. No one wants to talk about Feminism that isn't a Feminist. Well, I take that back, no one wants to debate Feminism who doesn't care about Feminism. Who thinks it's crazy. Because being a Feminist is so crazy. It is ludicrous, isn't it? Feminists are scary people, their beliefs are too strong, aren't they?

I'm am so sick of the term "crazy," I wish I could remove it from my vocabulary. I probably won't. It's permanently embedded into my mind to describe anything or anyone that simple expresses itself, or themselves, in a free way. One using their rights to feel deeply about a subject isn't crazy they are simply human.

Why am so crazy, then, to be a Feminist? Is it insane to ask for equality among men? Is it crazy to expect those rights in a country where it is outlined in my "contract" of being a citizen?

Is it crazy to ask that women be respected, as well as men be respected? To want an end for Sexual harassment? "Cat calls"? Is it crazy to address our Rights, and yes, our duty as respectful citizens? Is it crazy to address the situation of the drastic amount of women being sexually harassed in the workplace? (79% via AWARE.org).

Is it so ludicrous and irresponsible, and frankly, absurd of me to address that there exists a gender inequality not only in this nation, but internationally? Or to support a Feminist's take on the absurdity of these situations? I do not think it's crazy, I think it's bold. I think it's courageous. I think it's right. I think it's just.

Some intriguing history lessons and philosophy:

I like to write; point blank. This is a little piece of me that I get to share with the rest of the world, and hey, you know, maybe you'll appreciate it, maybe it'll do nothing for you. But my writing exists, and that's enough for me.
