We Will Set I caught something of beauty in the dendrobium orchid That I see every now and again in a purple-lit sky, Littered with birds scurrying, Clearing the view. And I look up to fix my eyes on you and your Countenance of love, that only the sky, Only this orchid, Could imitate. Did you learn from them or did they learn from you? The orchid will wither and fold, Lit by time’s flames, The sky will set to sleep And you, Us, My love, We, too, will not outlive The sunset. The Internet and Relationship Advice I’m Googling “how to get over a broken heart,” Because I know there’s a millennial article Somewhere out there about how to speed up the process. But I clicked on the first result, a Wiki page, And the image was a heart, snapped in half, Perfect. The directions were as follows: 1. Accept that you are hurt 2. Reflect on the relationship. 3. Be alone for awhile. 4. Get your feelings out. And I do all of these-- I accept that I am hurt because my tachycardia Hasn’t let up for a week, And I reflect on you, Just you, Alone. And then I try to get my feelings out onto a piece Of paper or some tears onto a tissue. You are still there.

AuthorI like to write; point blank. This is a little piece of me that I get to share with the rest of the world, and hey, you know, maybe you'll appreciate it, maybe it'll do nothing for you. But my writing exists, and that's enough for me. © 2019 Silvia Iorio. All rights reserved.
